We’ve just taken in a 2017 Ford Explorer XLT SUV it’s finished in striking Ruby Red with a sleek Ebony Black interior that gives it a bold, upscale feel. With just one previous owner and just 84,599 miles on the odometer, this 3-row SUV offers a confident balance of all-weather capability, daily drivability, and long-distance comfort.

Under the hood is a strong 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system that’s built to tackle everything from rain-soaked highways to snowy back roads with ease. With an EPA-estimated 23 MPG highway and 16 MPG in the city, it offers decent efficiency for a vehicle in its class. Plus, for added peace of mind, it comes with a 1-month/1,000-mile limited powertrain warranty from our dealership.

Slide into the cabin and you’ll quickly appreciate why the Explorer has remained a top choice among active families and outdoor adventurers alike. The premium cloth seats offer all-day comfort, and both the driver and front passenger get power-adjustable seating for a personalized fit.

In colder months, the heated side mirrors and rear defrost make winter mornings more manageable. Meanwhile, tri-zone climate control keeps everyone happy, no matter where they’re seated even the third row passengers, thanks to rear HVAC vents and separate controls.

The Explorer XLT is as smart as it is capable. SYNC technology with voice-activated commands and Bluetooth connectivity keeps you connected hands-free, while the 6-speaker audio system with satellite radio capability provides entertainment for the whole crew.

The built-in rearview camera with washer makes backing into tight spots easy, while rear parking sensors provide an added layer of confidence. And with multiple USB ports and 12V power outlets, everyone’s devices can stay charged on the go.

From the outside, the Ruby Red paint gleams in the sun, enhanced by 18-inch 5-spoke aluminum wheels and LED lighting. Subtle black cladding and chrome accents add a sporty, rugged edge to the design, while the rear spoiler and body-colored bumpers complete the SUV’s confident stance. Roof rails are ready for your gear bikes, kayaks, or extra cargo and the rear liftgate makes loading up a breeze.

Practicality shines with split-folding second and third row seats, giving you flexible space for both passengers and gear. Whether you're heading out for a weekend camping trip or a quick grocery run, the Explorer adapts to your needs effortlessly. Add in thoughtful features like proximity key entry, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, and you'll feel like you're driving something far more premium.

This 2017 Explorer XLT hits the sweet spot for families or individuals who want SUV capability without sacrificing comfort or connectivity. Its spacious interior, dependable 4WD system, and modern tech make it a standout value in today’s SUV market. If you’ve been waiting for the right Explorer to come along don’t wait too long. This one-owner gem won’t stick around.

    • Come on ford

My biggest complaint is how hard it is to set up bluetooth devices. There isn't just 1 button. Theres a series of 4 buttons you need to get working prior to driving to hopefully get bluetooth. Just such a headache that the suv lost major points in my book for that. The headrests are those awful ones that push your head forward so they kill my neck on long drives. The fold down seats can hold a lot of weight which has been nice. However, the backs of the seats are a thin particle board that will break under enough weight. Here I was worried that the bar that holds the seats would break first.

Im 6'9, having owned full size trucks from the big 3, these gen5 Explorers are unequivocally the best fitting for my size. However, high window sills are a bit high for most shorter folks Ive talked to. In 100k miles, Ive only replaced rear brakes and front struts and only the right one had failed at that. Rear brakes are just about due. Best car Ive ever owned.

Everything I could want in a vehicle. Mable (her name) has yet to fail. Drivability is excelent. Long trips are no issue in the comfort of Mable. There is room for everyone and thier luggage. She has double moon roofs to watch the stars at night or feel the sunshine in the morning. Mable also has towing capacity, but I have never needed it. Thank you to the couple that traded her in with only 64000 miles.
