We’ve just taken in a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT SUV it’s finished in sleek Tuxedo Black Metallic with a Charcoal Black interior that feels refined and ready for adventure. This full-size SUV has only 68,984 miles and is powered by a strong 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission and Ford’s capable 4WD system, giving you the confidence to take on everything from slick city streets to snow-covered backroads.

With seating for up to seven and a spacious third row, this Explorer is built for family road trips, daily errands, or spontaneous weekend getaways. The condition is rated Good, showing that it’s been well cared for by its two previous owners.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a thoughtfully designed cabin. Premium cloth seating provides comfort for every passenger, while power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support help you settle in for the long haul. The tri-zone climate control keeps everyone comfortable whether it’s a cool blast in the summer or cozy warmth in the winter. The cabin feels open and airy, surrounded by soft-touch materials and brushed metal-look trim that elevate the space without overdoing it.

The Explorer XLT was designed to blend power and practicality. Its 3.5L V6 delivers smooth, confident acceleration with the kind of torque that makes merging or towing feel effortless. The intelligent 4WD system, working with Ford’s Terrain Management System, lets you confidently handle rain, gravel, or snow with just the turn of a dial. Stability Control and Hill Descent Control ensure this SUV stays planted and predictable, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Technology is another strong suit here. The SYNC system with MyFord voice activation makes hands-free calls, plays your favorite music, and accesses apps through simple voice commands. The 6-speaker audio system with satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity keeps every drive fun and connected. Steering-wheel-mounted audio controls let you take command without lifting a hand from the wheel.

Safety is always front and center in the Explorer. You’ll find Ford’s AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, rear parking sensors, side curtain airbags for all three rows, a knee airbag for the driver, and child safety locks. These features work quietly in the background, adding peace of mind every time you’re on the road.

Outside, the Tuxedo Black Metallic finish catches the light beautifully. The chrome grille, body-colored bumpers, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and integrated turn-signal mirrors give it a refined yet rugged presence. Auto on/off headlights, fog lamps, and LED taillights not only look sharp but make night driving easier and safer.

Every detail is built for everyday ease. Keyless entry with illuminated entry welcomes you back after dark, while the power liftgate and fold-flat rear seats make packing up groceries, sports gear, or weekend luggage a breeze. The Explorer XLT even includes a rearview camera, along with the reverse sensing system, to make backing into tight spots simple.

With 23 MPG highway, this SUV strikes a balance between power and efficiency for its size. Whether you’re carpooling, commuting, or towing a small trailer, the Explorer XLT delivers confident capability with a touch of refinement.

    • Come on ford

My biggest complaint is how hard it is to set up bluetooth devices. There isn't just 1 button. Theres a series of 4 buttons you need to get working prior to driving to hopefully get bluetooth. Just such a headache that the suv lost major points in my book for that. The headrests are those awful ones that push your head forward so they kill my neck on long drives. The fold down seats can hold a lot of weight which has been nice. However, the backs of the seats are a thin particle board that will break under enough weight. Here I was worried that the bar that holds the seats would break first.
    • Built for those of tall stature

Im 6'9, having owned full size trucks from the big 3, these gen5 Explorers are unequivocally the best fitting for my size. However, high window sills are a bit high for most shorter folks Ive talked to. In 100k miles, Ive only replaced rear brakes and front struts and only the right one had failed at that. Rear brakes are just about due. Best car Ive ever owned.

Everything I could want in a vehicle. Mable (her name) has yet to fail. Drivability is excelent. Long trips are no issue in the comfort of Mable. There is room for everyone and thier luggage. She has double moon roofs to watch the stars at night or feel the sunshine in the morning. Mable also has towing capacity, but I have never needed it. Thank you to the couple that traded her in with only 64000 miles.
