    I was worried about buying the first model year and I bought it the first week it was out, so I have 3,000 miles on it already. I have the Red Line package which I love, but it was expensive. So far, love the Traverse and could not be happier. I am coming from a Nissan Pathfinder and also looked at the Pilot. Pros: It is huge. Tons of interior room, super comfortable, lots of room behind 3rd row, nice hidden storage. The camera and safety package (on higher end version) are great. 360 camera and mirror camera are great. Infotainment is super easy to use. Drives great, smooth, maybe a touch under powered, but no different than the pilot. Cons I hate the auto start stop. I think the Pilot you can turn it off, have not figured out if you can turn it off on Traverse. To be fair, it is not unsafe or failed, i just dont like it. Not enough cup holders in front. Hard to see out back window. It is big, so living in the city, it is a bit challenging. No spare tire...(Is that a thing anymore?) Highly recommend!

    First let me tell you what is great about this car, and that is the size. This was the only three row SUV my wife and I looked at that had reasonable trunk space with the third row up, and the under trunk storage is great. The look is great, especially with the upgraded white and loft brown interior. Car handles very well for an SUV this size, and gas mileage again for an SUV this size is acceptable. Now the areas for improvement: First needs more power. I heard GM was going to develop a V8 off of the 3.6 V6, but killed it out of concerns over gas mileage and cost. Car this size needs a V8. Could we at least get the new from scratch V6 in the Acadia, and not the old retuned V6 from the previous model. Second the rear and side view mirrors are way too small for a vehicle this size and the rear panoramic camera is great, but if you take your eyes off it and look back it takes a few seconds for your eyes to refocus. Not good in everyday driving. 9 speed tranny great up shifts, but feel the down shifts. Can not get rear leg hatch foot release to work consistently. Lastly paying 50K plus for a Chevy? Not sure if that makes financial sense, but hey wife and kids love the car.

    I have owned numerous SUV vehicles and sedans and trucks and the 2018 Traverse provides the best ride of any of them. On bad roads the suspension soaks up the bumps completely while providing very good handling and not much roll in the curves. My 1998 Tahoe had a lot of cargo space but all the 7 and 8 passenger SUVs provide very little cargo space, less actually than the Subaru Outback. The Traverse is very different with its 98 cut ft of cargo space. Instrumentation is excellent with the use of analog dials and two LCD displays (great with the navigation system in use). Overall the user interface for the driver is much better than most SUVs I test drove with only the Honda Pilot being as good. Acceleration for getting onto a freeway or passing a vehicle on the highway is excellent (far better than with the Honda Pilot or Subaru with the standard engine. Shifting is not even apparent with the super smooth transmission. I bought the LT Leather which provided the navigation package and 360 view camera system and warning systems but without the sunroof or adaptive cruise control with the Premiere which costs 4,000 more. OK value at the price but not terrific. Problem with the Traverse is that GM only provides a second row bench seat, or what it refers to as 8 passenger configuration with its LS Cloth model which is targeted at rental companies. With all the other trim levels one only can get second row captains chairs which leave a large gap between them. I bought a Pet Bridge to cover this gap but it is hardly ideal. The 360 cameras display and rear and front cameras work very well and provide a clear view of what is immediately in front or behind the Traverse. What I really like is that as you turn the steering wheel the lines on the display turn to show you where you will end up. Fantastic when not able to backup in a straight line, as when backing out of a parking space. Despite its having more passenger and cargo space than a large SUV like the Chevy Tahoe or Ford Expedition, it is lower to the ground and so no inside handle is needed to get into the Traverse and no need for running boards to make for shorter step up into it. On the highway the experience is like being in a Lexus with a very smooth ride and a very low noise level. Perfect vehicle for long road trips. If planning to do much driving in snow or on dirt roads then you will want to replace the factory all-season tires with all-terrain ones. The owners manual even makes this recommendation indirectly by stating not to go on dirt roads with any incline with the stock tires.
